Laurier tops in student satisfaction for fourth consecutive year

For the fourth year in a row, Laurier has been ranked No. 1 in the country in its category for student satisfaction in the annual Maclean’s Rankings of Canadian Universities.

Laurier also ranked No. 1 in five out of 10 student-satisfaction categories, including No. 1 for course instructors, student life staff, extracurricular activities, residence living and administrative staff. Laurier ranked in the top five in the remaining five categories, including No. 2 in experiential learning and academic advising staff.

In the overall rankings, Laurier held onto the No. 6 spot nationally among the 15 Canadian universities in the “comprehensive” university category. Laurier also ranked No. 3 in its category nationally for student services and in the top five for faculty awards and social sciences and humanities grants.

“Laurier continues to excel in one of the most important categories, student satisfaction, as one of Canada’s top comprehensive universities,” said President and Vice-Chancellor Deborah MacLatchy. “We are committed to providing academic excellence and experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for their futures, within a strong community environment that helps students thrive. These results show that our focus on developing the whole student resonates with our student community.”

Maclean’s places Laurier in the comprehensive category, which includes 15 universities across the country with a “significant degree of research activity and a wide range of programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including professional degrees.”
