A Laurier graduate and former member of the university's Board of Governors, Lawrence (Larry) Jackson Scott passed away on June 2 after a battle with brain cancer. He was 62 years old. After graduating from Laurier, Scott earned an MBA from Queen's University and went on to enjoy a successful banking career in both Toronto and London, England where he worked for a number of Canadian and international banks. After returning to Oakville, Ontario in 2001, Scott took an early retirement and became involved in politics, running as the Ontario Progressive Conservative candidate for Oakville in the past two elections. Scott is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna, and children Laura, Amy and Brandon.
Peter Thomas Surey passed away suddenly on May 5 while enjoying his favourite place, Killarney Provincial Park. Known for his wit and unique zest for life, Surey will be missed by the love of his life Samantha, mother Kathy, father Tony and stepmother Laurie, as well as his siblings and extended family. Attila Kasos passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Feb. 28 following a battle with cancer. He was 38 years old. Kasos was a dearly loved son of Janos and Katalin Kasos, devoted husband of Aniko and cherished father of Gabi and Peti. He is also lovingly remembered by his in-laws, Laszlo and Laszlone Demeter.
