James Bergin (BBA '88) has been appointed to the board of directors of Defiance Silver Corp. Bergin currently serves as CIO and President of Hillhead Capital Inc.

Grier ColterGrier Colter (BBA ’96) has been appointed chief financial officer and executive vice president of Morneau Shepell Inc. Morneau Shepell is a provider of technology-enabled human resources services.

Doug DowneyDoug Downey (BA '92) was appointed attorney general in the Ontario Progressive Conservative government. Downey, who represents the riding of Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte, was first elected to the Ontario Legislature in the 2018 provincial election.

Alex FuTitanium Transportation Group Inc. has appointed Alex Fu (BA '09) as chief financial officer. Fu was previously the company's director of finance.

Amanda IgnatiusAmanda Ignatius (BA '11) has joined Volvo Car Canada Ltd. as head of corporate and media communications. Ignatius most recently served as senior product communications manager at General Motors Canada.

Graham Jeffery (BBA '05) has been elected to the Automotive Industries Association board of directors. Jeffery serves as vice president, automotive merchandising division, with Canadian Tire Corporation.

Jeff KleinJeff Klein (BBA ’98) has been named senior vice president of global marketing with Little Caesars. Klein was most recently chief marketing officer for global food service with PepsiCo.

Arthur H. Kwan (MBA ‘02) has been appointed to the board of directors of NewBridge Global Ventures Inc., a company focused on the emerging legal and regulated cannabis industry.

Kristina McCahon (BA '10) has joined SLANG, a global cannabis consumer packaged goods company, as director, investor relations and chief of staff.

Jason McDonellJason McDonell (BBA '96) has joined Advance Auto Parts, Inc. as executive vice president and chief marketing officer. McDonell most recently served as Canada president and general manager for PepsiCo Foods.

Heather Ann MendesHeather-Ann Mendes (BBA '01) was one of six new justices appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice in May. Mendes has been in private practice in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., since 2005, focusing on family and child protection law.

Doug Millar (BBA '83) has been appointed executive vice president of DKI Canada, a property restoration company with 90 locations across the country.

Rod PhillipsRod Phillips (MBA ’92) was appointed minister of finance in the Ontario Progressive Conservative government. Phillips was elected to the Ontario Legislature as the member for Ajax in the 2018 provincial election.

Hayley RussellHayley Russell (MSc '10) was named winner of the Gustavus Adolphus College 2019 Swenson-Bunn Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence. Russell is an assistant professor of health and exercise science at the St. Peter, Minnesota, institution.

Neil Said (BBA '02) was recently appointed to the board of directors of Magnolia Colombia Limited, an independent Canadian oil exploration company.

Vivene SalmonVivene Salmon (BA '00) was named president of the Canadian Bar Association. The 36,000-member association represents lawyers, judges, notaries, law professors and law students across the country.

Bryan SmithBryan Smith (BA '11) will serve as vice chair of the Ontario provincial government's Minister's Digital and Data Task Force. The task force is designed to ensure residents and businesses benefit from the data economy while ensuring personal privacy is protected.

Christopher Stackhouse (BBA '06) has been appointed chief financial officer of Rockcliff Metals Corporation. Stackhouse possesses more than 15 years experience working with precious and base metal companies.

Chitman UppalFinancial technology company Voleo Trading Systems Inc. announced the appointment of Chitman Uppal (M.Fin. '17, MBA '17) as VP compliance and operations. Uppal previously held positions with Sun Life Financial and Setter Capital.

Mark VuorinenMark Vuorinen (BMus '98) has been named artistic director and conductor of the Elora Singers and Elora Festival. The Elora Singers are a Grammy- and Juno-nominated chamber choir based in Elora, Ont.

Mark Wilson (BA '90) has been named president of Ripple Junction, a leading designer and developer of licensed merchandise. Wilson previously served as president and chief executive officer of Joseph Beth Booksellers.
