Keeping up to date with Wilfrid Laurier University graduates

Deann Brown (MBA ’06)
Deann Brown was appointed marketing and communications manager with Saniflo Canada. A career marketing professional, Brown has held numerous marketing and brand management positions.

Candace Brule (BBA ’07)
Hudbay Minerals Inc. announced the promotion of Candace Brule to vice president of investor relations. Brule possesses nearly 15 years of experience in capital markets, corporate development and investor relations in the mining sector.

Lisa Darling (BA ’92)
Lisa Darling was named the new executive director of the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards. Darling possesses 27 years of exemplary service with the Ontario Provincial Police, including serving as superintendent, west region, field operations command.

Robert Dickson (BA ’81)
Robert Dickson was welcomed as a member of the National Indigenous Economic Development Board. Dickson is the chief executive officer of the Attawapiskat Enterprises Inc. group of companies and one of the founders of the Aboriginal and Visible Minority Supplier Council.

Sean Doherty (BBA ’95)
Polar Sapphire announced that Sean Doherty has been appointed the company’s chief financial officer. Doherty possess more than 25 years of financial leadership experience.

Cheryl Duvall (DIPLCH ’07, B.Mus ’06 )
The Chamber Music Society of Mississauga named pianist Cheryl Duvall its new artistic director.

John Estacio (B.Mus ’89)
John Estacio was named a member of the Order of Canada for his expertise as a composer and his contributions to Canadian opera. Estacio is a contemporary Canadian composer of opera, orchestral and choral music.

Elijah Fera (BA ’21)
Switzerland’s Basel Gladiators signed Canadian running back Elijah Fera for the 2022 season. Fera was a part of Laurier’s Yates Cup championship team in 2016.

Natasha Fernandes (BBA ’02)
Natasha Fernandes was promoted to the role of chief financial officer with IMAX Corporation. Her promotion is the culmination of a 15-year career with the company, during which she has held numerous leadership roles in finance.

Brad French (BA ’89)
Brad French was appointed to the board of directors of Ackroo Inc. French is owner of Alliance Communications and Security, as well as a thriving commercial real estate business.

Maher Ghalayini (MBA ’04)
Georgian College announced Maher Ghalayini the role of associate vice president academic. Ghalayini first joined Georgian in 2017 and previously served as dean of business and management and automotive, leading a portfolio of more than 25 full-time programs.

Jeremy Green (MBA ’96)
Jeremy Green was appointed to the board of directors of Elixxer Ltd. Green’s career spans over 20 years in the banking industry.

Erin Greenfield (BBA ’96) and Tracy Greenfield (BBA ’96)
Erin Greenfield and Tracy Greenfield (née Simms) founded portfolio management firm Greenfield Investment Management Limited, which is based in Toronto.

Andrew Jones (BA ’89)
Andrew Jones was appointed executive director, government affairs and advocacy with Diabetes Canada.

Peter Kampian (BBA ’82)
Peter Kampian was named chief financial officer with Electryon Power Inc. Kampian will oversee financial reporting, accounting, tax, treasury, risk management, financial planning and analysis, capital management and investor relations.

Pavla Kazda (BBA ’02)
Pavla Kazda took on the role of dean, business and management, automotive business at Georgian College. Kazda first joined Georgian in 2018 and previously served as associate dean, business and management.

George Konstantopoulos (MBA ’09)
RSM Canada added George Konstantopoulos as consulting partner in the firm’s merger and acquisition integration practice. Konstantopoulos possesses more than 18 years of experience with a focus on transaction advising and investment banking.

Kristine Krynitzki (BA ’06)
Hope Mountain Centre welcomed Kristine Krynitzki as its new executive director. Krynitzki previously worked with Northwest Wildlife Preservation Society as its executive director.

David Lewis (PhD ’17)
David Lewis was appointed to the Ontario Securities Commission for a two-year term. Lewis is president of the BEworks Research Institute, where he conducts and publishes applied behavioural economics research on financial decision making.

Candace MacGibbon (DipLAC ’99)
Candace MacGibbon joined Carbon Streaming Corporation’s board of directors. MacGibbon possesses more than 25 years of experience in the mining sector and capital markets. She is currently a director with Osisko Gold Royalties Ltd.

Gary McCartney (BBA ’96)
Gary McCartney was named senior vice president and chief financial officer for Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks, both based in Greensboro, North Carolina. McCartney previously served as global CFO and senior vice president finance at Volvo Financial Services.

Vineet Mehra (BBA ’01)
Vineet Mehra has been appointed to the board of directors of home furnishing brand The Lovesac Company. Mehra currently serves as chief marketing officer of Chime, a financial technology company.

Dave Miller (BBA ’98)
Dave Miller was named chief financial officer of MediaValet Inc. Miller brings more than 20 years of technology-focused financial expertise and leadership to the position.

Brett Mooney (BBA ’01)
TransUnion announced the appointment of Brett Mooney to the role of regional president Canada. A financial industry veteran, Mooney previously held positions at Scotiabank and American Express.

Farooq Moosa (MBA ’01)
NextPlay Technologies Inc. appointed Farooq Moosa to its board of directors. Moosa currently serves as president and CFO of Avenir Senior Living.

Duane Morrison (MBA ’99)
Duane Morrison was named director, new business originations with Siena Lending Group Canada. Morrison previously served as vice president, deal originations with Cortland Credit Group.

Teena Murray (BA ’93)
The NHL’s Pittsburg Penguins named Teena Murray senior vice president of integrated performance. Murray was formerly with the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, where she spent four years as vice president of health and performance.

Alex Mustakas (HDEG ’04, BA ’83)
Alex Mustakas – artistic director of Drayton Entertainment – was honoured with the Meritorious Service Medal (Civil Division) by Governor General Mary Simon. Meritorious Service Decorations recognize Canadians for exceptional deeds that bring honour to Canada.

Eric Palmer (BBA ’92)
Eric Palmer was appointed to the board of directors of Ideon Technologies. Palmer is a C-level executive and company growth strategy advisor with extensive experience in operations and finance.

Joseph Pazzano (BA ’13)
Fanshawe College named Joseph Pazzano director of equity, diversity and inclusion. Pazzano joins Fanshawe from the University of Guelph, where he held the position of training, education and inclusion officer in the Office of Diversity and Human Rights.

Lisa Petrelli (MA ’93)
Lisa Petrelli was elected a global association board member with 100 Women in Finance (100WF). 100WF is a global finance industry organization dedicated to empowering women in finance.

Scott Piatkowski (BA ’88)
Scott Piatkowski was named chairperson of the board of trustees for the Waterloo Region District School Board. He also serves as Ontario program manager for the Community Housing Transformation Centre.

David Pidduck (BBA ’86)
MediPharm Labs Corp. announced David Pidduck as chief executive officer and director of the company. Pidduck possesses more than 20 years of senior leadership experience.

Prabha Ramaswamy (MSW ’91, BA ’87)
The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce named Prabha Ramaswamy its new CEO. Ramaswamy also serves as the CEO of Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan.

Anthony Rota (BA ’83)
Members of Parliament re-elected Anthony Rota as Speaker of the House of Commons. Rota, the member of Paliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming, was first elected Speaker in December 2019.

Justin Shakell (BA ’04)
The Canadian Football League Alumni Association presented Justin Shakell its Indigenous Champion Award. Shakell, who is from the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, was a member of the Golden Hawks football team for five years.

Caitlin (Howlett) Smith (MBA ’10, BA ’05)
Caitlin (Howlett) Smith was promoted to chief operating officer of Strong Start Charitable Organization, a Waterloo- based registered charity that helps children learn to read.

Greg Smith (BBA ’98)
Greg Smith was promoted to president, Canada, of Crawford & Company. Smith previously served as the company’s chief operating officer and chief client officer.

Rohan Thompson (MSW ’04, BA ’02)
Rohan Thompson was hired as Dufferin County’s director of people and equity. Thompson possesses more than 15 years of public sector experience focusing on community engagement, equity, policy analysis and program development.

Chris Waddick (BBA ’87)
Cardiol Therapeutics Inc. appointed Chris Waddick to its board of directors. Waddick possesses more than 30 years of experience in financial and executive roles in the biotechnology and energy industries.
